WHAT IS ELECTRONIC LEAK DETECTION?

Electronic Leak Detection

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) is a quality control testing procedure that locates breaches, holes and seam voids in roofing and waterproofing membranes.  It does this by applying a low voltage electrical current to the top of an exposed membrane.  The equipment alarms at the location of a breach, thus indicating an electrical path to building ground has been completed.

Conductive Mediums

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) requires a conductive substrate, such as structural concrete, directly below the membrane.  Conventional roof assemblies require the addition of a conductive medium to enable ELD testing.  Superior is the local representative for TruGround by Detec Systems.
